Litterbox.com litter is made for the conscientious consumer who cares for their cat like a member of the family. It’s as close as you can get to what your cat would use naturally. No additives, no fillers, no perfumes, just one all natural ingredient, sodium bentonite, dried with the power of the sun. You and your cat have everything you need in a litter and nothing you don’t.
You can rest assured that we are producing this scoopable cat litter in a manner based upon the principles of conservation and responsible environmental stewardship. The acquirement and processing is carried out on our ranch, the home to our family for four generations, and hopefully many more. We seek to preserve the character of the land so that future generations will be able to enjoy it. Our goal is to build a sustainable future while delivering a cat litter like no other to you and your feline family member.
Better product comes from better raw material, and there’s no better place to get it than right here in the USA. Our ranch is located in the geographic center of the world’s only supply of high quality sodium bentonite clay, giving us access to superior raw material for cat litter. Our family owns and operates the entire process with great care from collecting the raw material to packaging, so we can deliver the best to you and your cat. In our operations, we continually seek to reduce our environmental impact, because we understand the necessity of maintaining our ecosystem.
Litterbox.com litter is 99% dust-free. No more plume of dust, no more rapid-fire sneezing, and no layer of dust around the house. By sun-drying our clay, preserving its soft texture, then screening it for ideal particle size, we’ve nearly eliminated that nasty cloud of dust normally associated with filling the litter box. Designed without chemicals or perfumes, our litter is hypoallergenic making it gentle on cats and humans alike.
Each granule is just right; not too big and not too small. When a clump forms, the uniform granules pack together efficiently and hold tight, making that perfect clump. It’s ideal for households with multiple cats where you might not get a chance to scoop before the next cat uses the litter box. The clumps won’t break apart when scooping and automatic litter boxes perform ideally. Folks tell us that a bag of our litter lasts much longer than other brands since the clumps don’t break up and they’re not forced to throw away a whole tray of litter.
Our litter is sodium-type bentonite, which is often called swelling bentonite since it can expand to several times its dry weight as it absorbs liquids and odors. It is the most efficient at drawing up liquid and sequestering that telltale ammonia scent caused by urine degrading in the litter box. We screen our dried clay for that ideal particle size, which reduces dust and eliminates larger particles that allow odors to escape. Therefore, we do not need to add potentially harmful chemicals or scents, which both you and your cat can detect, delivering results superior to other clay-based litters. Additionally, without these harsh chemicals the litter maintains an earthy smell that feline family members love.
Litterbox.com litter is designed to stay right where you want it: in the box. By sun-drying our clay at low temperatures to keep it soft and screening the granules to the perfect size, our silky soft litter is significantly less likely to stick your cat’s paws and fur. No more tracked litter and no more twitchy, scratching paws, it’s win-win for pet parents and cats alike.
Sun-drying protects the clay and the environment. Compared to flash-drying (which requires large amounts of fossil fuel, hardens the texture of the litter, and leaves a residue your cat can smell), sun-drying makes the clay softer, preserves its powerful odor-absorbing properties, and requires only enough fossil fuel to power the tractors that turn the clay in the fields—significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
In a process that is long, but simple, we begin by tilling the clay with a farm tractor and disk to reduce its moisture content and break up large chunks of clay into a workable size in a process known as field drying. The clay continues to be turned several times per day using a tractor and disk, in addition to several secret innovations we have developed to naturally aid the drying process (that we will leave to your imagination). Due to the high moisture content, the clay is a dark color when it’s initially stockpiled. This aids in the drying process as the dark color causes the clay to absorb millions of natural BTUs of the sun’s rays, while the arid wind sweeps evaporated moisture away. The clay is ready to be turned when the dark color vanishes and the clay becomes a greyish white. This is done for several days until the change in color is nearly undetectable. The dry clay is removed and the process is repeated. It might take longer to produce, but we’re left with a superior product for you and your cat.
The feel of a litter under your cat’s paws can make the difference between good and bad litter box habits. Cats prefer the soft feel of finely textured clay clumping litter over alternatives, which is why we take great care of our clay during processing. We know of no other company that exclusively uses the natural power of the sun to dry their raw material; most use coal-fired dryers. Flash-drying at extreme temperatures hardens the texture of the clay, degrades its quality, ultimately reducing its clumping strength. Instead, as the clay dries under the sun’s rays in the field, we turn it several times per day to ensure the temperature never exceeds 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, we screen the dried clay for that perfect granule size that’s not too fine or too coarse, but just right. What’s left is an ideal combination of silky soft, finely textured clay clumping litter that your cat is sure to love.

There’s no need to add harsh allergenic chemicals or perfumes when you start with high quality raw materials and process them naturally. Compared to other methods of making clay litter, our proprietary sun-drying process results in considerably reduced carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, and sulfur dioxide emissions—chemicals implicated in climate change, smog, and acid rain. Instead of smelling like fossil fuel residue, our sun-dried litter has a gentle earthy smell that cats are naturally attracted to, which is important for cats prone to litter box issues. Without perfumes or additives, Litterbox.com litter is a safe, hypoallergenic choice for you and your cat.
